Figuring Out What To Watch Can Be Difficult
If you thought the best movies of 2021 were great, just wait: There are so many movies coming out in 2022 to get excited about. From Marvel blockbusters to twisty thrillers and a new horror offering from Jordan Peele, the number of must-watch movies coming to the big screen (and your streaming queue) is massive. With so many options, figuring out what to watch can be difficult, but we’re here to help you sift through the action movies, winter movies, feel-good movies, and everything in between. While release dates are subject to change, here is a rough schedule of the movies coming out in 2022 to put on your radar.
Spoiler alert: The Scream revival is on this list. In May 2020, Neve Campbell talked about the movie’s early stages and Wes Craven, the franchise’s original director, who passed away in 2015.
“I definitely had a period where I was thinking it would just be too odd to do a movie without Wes, and I wasn’t certain that I would want to do that,” Campbell told The Hollywood Reporter. “But, I think enough time has passed. I got this really, really respectful letter from the directors [Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett] of the new one. They wrote a letter honoring Wes in such a beautiful way, and they expressed that the reason they make horror movies is because of Wes and the Scream films. They also expressed how blown away they are at the idea of actually getting an opportunity to make one of them and how much they want to honor and respect Wes’s vision.… So, we’ll see. We’re just in the beginning phases of negotiations, and we’ll have to see where it goes with COVID and everything. There are a lot of things up in the air, such as when we’ll actually get to make the movie and how we can even reenter this business at the moment.”
But back to the full list. See what’s coming up, below, and mark your calendars accordingly. (Of course, keep checking back here for all the movie news you need to know.)

Top Gun: Maverick
This one’s finally getting a release date. Tom Cruise is back as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the sequel to Top Gun, one of the movies that turned him into a massive movie star. There’s a new crop of hot-shot pilots in town, including Glen Powell and Miles Teller. Val Kilmer is also back as Iceman.

Another origin story, this one about Gru, set in the 1970s as he dreams about becoming a supervillain.
